Contracts are the foundation of most business transactions and personal agreements. In Cyprus, Contract Law (Chapter 149 of the Civil Code) governs contractual relationships, ensuring that agreements are legally binding once an offer is accepted.

Contracts can take various forms - verbal, written, or electronic - but we strongly advise our clients to put agreements in writing to minimize disputes and clearly define each party’s obligations.

Breach of Contract & Legal Remedies

A breach of contract occurs when one party fails to fulfil their obligations. The consequences depend on the nature of the breached term:

Breach of  a Condition of – If a fundamental contract term is violated, the affected party may terminate the contract and seek damages.

Breach of a Warranty – If a secondary obligation is breached, the contract remains in force, but the affected party may claim compensation for any direct losses. Damages aim to restore the injured party to the position they would have been in if the contract had been properly executed.
